The Raiders could trade for Chicago Bears quarterback, Nick Foles

Trevor Siemian left Halas Hall on Tuesday without a contract or even a verbal deal in place. Yesterday, Siemian met with the Las Vegas Raiders. Apparently, the Chicago Bears offered him a better contract than the Raiders since Siemian chose to sign with Chicago. It could also have to do with the fact he played his college ball at Northwestern. We will have to wait and see if he divulges his reasoning.

Now, the Bears roster has too many backup quarterbacks. Behind Justin Fields is Nick Foles, Trevor Siemian and Ryan Willis. I don’t see the team keeping four quarterbacks on the roster. Nick Foles is the only one with a little bit of trade value. Since the Raiders struck out on Siemian and lost Marcus Mariota in free agency to the Atlanta Falcons, maybe they’d be interested in trading for Nick Foles?

The Raiders would have just enough salary cap space to take on Foles’ contract. The Chicago Bears would not be able to get much in return for Foles in a trade. They sent a fourth-round pick for Foles in 2020 but now, they probably wouldn’t get anything better than a sixth-rounder. The Raiders don’t have a sixth-round pick, but they do have a fairly early seventh-rounder that I am sure Ryan Poles would take for Foles.
