3 Reasons Darnell Mooney can be the Chicago Bears No. 1 wide receiver

Reason No. 1 why Darnell Mooney can be the Chicago Bears WR1: 4.38 speed
Coming into the NFL, Darnell Mooney was known as being a rather speedy guy. Running a 4.38 40-yard dash made that statement more of a fact, and ever since being with the Chicago Bears, that 4.38 speed has seemed to maybe even be getting faster.
And with an offense that could look completely different from what it did in 2021 due to an almost complete clean-out of the former coaching staff. Darnell Mooney could be the new star of the show aside from Justin Fields.
With 4.38 speed and a quarterback that specialized in deep throws during his masterful college career, a team has a lot to work with when figuring out their scheme and identity for who they want to be.
With that in mind, to say Mooney can’t be a No. 1 receiver is a hard argument to defend. Considering the fact that with speed like Darnell Mooney’s combined with the arm potential of Justin Fields, there’s a reason to believe the two can be a top combination within the NFC North at the very least.
The top NFC North duo obviously goes to Kirk Cousins and Justin Jefferson, but there’s nothing to say that Justin Fields and Darnell Mooney can’t be one of the top combos in the North to compete with Cousins and Jefferson.
That being the case would make a clear argument that Mooney is, indeed, a No. 1 receiver for the Chicago Bears; but, if that’s not reason enough, there’s a second reason outside his speed that Darnell Mooney could absolutely be the Chicago Bears’ No. 1 receiver.
