Got Justin Fields a new toy at wide receiver? Check. Now, time to get him some protection. With the offensive line essentially set with the exception of left tackle, why not get Fields his former teammate in Nicholas Petit-Frere?

Petit-Frere became the starter at Ohio State in 2020 and quickly emerged as a star at right tackle for them. He earned himself second-team All-Big Ten honors for his great season. After that season, he was moved to left tackle and fellow NFL Draft prospect Thayer Munford kicked inside to guard. He earned himself First-Team All-American honors and All-Big Ten honors at left tackle for the Buckeyes in 2021.

The main struggles for Petit-Frere are very easy to clean up. He shows on tape often the traits to be an elite left tackle at the next level with incredible athleticism, quickness, and overall strength. He has some very bad tape though as well (see Michigan… yikes). Clean up the issues, and its no question he can be great in the NFL.

A line consisting of Petit-Frere, Ryan Bates (if they land him), Lucas Patrick, Cody Whitehair, and Teven Jenkins has plenty of upside long-term while also adding some seasoned veterans. Overall, this offensive line would do a fine job of keeping Fields on his feet for the 2022 season with two blue-chip offensive tackles to develop.
