The Chicago Bears load up on offense in 2022 NFL Mock Draft

Chicago Bears Round 3, Pick No. 71
Cole Strange would be a slam dunk pick here. Cody Whitehair is not in the long-term plans of the Chicago Bears and this would be his replacement. This would not only be a move for the long-term but possibly the short-term as well.
Strange is a seasoned interior offensive lineman from his time at Chattanooga. With 44 starts under his belt, he has the ability to start at multiple places along the offensive line with starts at left guard, left tackle, and center as well. He was a 2021 FCS First-Team All-American and got invited to the Senior Bowl as well.
With what Ryan Poles and Matt Eberflus are looking for, Cole Strange fits everything they are looking for. Strange is a mean, nasty lineman who will maul opposing defenders in the run game. He has a great anchor in his pass protection as well with a solid initial punch. With that, he has a high motor and never seems to get tired. He is always looking for work in the run and the pass game.
Strange could make a push to start even at guard for the Bears this year. Even if they land Bates, Strange could test him for the starting guard spot. Even if he doesn’t, he has a year to sit behind Whitehair and learn from a veteran of the game who is a similar player to him in terms of a guard/center.
