The Chicago Bears trade back to acquire more draft capital

Using Pro Football Networks’ mock draft simulator, I have the Chicago Bears trading back to acquire more draft capital. The end goal should be to acquire more draft capital while targeting position groups by value and scarcity. Three trade offers have come in:

OR

OR

As tempting as it is to get a first-round draft pick from the panthers, I don’t want to lose two draft picks this season just to gain a first for another year. Although I could trade that draft pick away for more capital, I don’t want to get this mock draft too crazy. With that, I will accept the Chargers trade offer. The top five players on the board were:

  • Lewis Cine
  • Breece Hall
  • Desmond Ridder
  • Devonte Wyatt (I know, but I don’t think he will be there)
  • Jahan Dotson

The Chargers took Jahan Dotson, who I love, but there is still a lot of talent available. The 48th overall selection has some intriguing trade options, but again, I am not interested in losing draft capital this season only to gain future draft capital next season.

The Chicago Bears will stick with the 48th overall selections and draft:

The 6’5″, 325-pound tackle continues the trend that Ryan Poles has been following. That is a nasty mean blocker that profiles as a guard. Tyler Smith’s weakness is his pass blocking, but with the help of Luke Getsy’s wide zone play-action-based offense, Smith would have time to adjust as he learns on the job. Ryan Poles is not new to starting young players on the offensive line. The Kansas City Chiefs Started three rookies on the offensive line. I know that is not for everybody, but that could be for the Chicago Bears.
