It is mock draft season everyone. This is the time of year when we go through game tape, find players we think will make it in the NFL, and then talk them into existence on our favorite NFL teams. In this case, we are obviously referring to the Chicago Bears. The point of mock drafts is to try and determine what players go where and what players a team may target. It’s also important to see what rounds make the most sense to target certain positions.

The Chicago Bears come away with some great value in this 2022 mock draft

Personally, when drafting, the best approach in my opinion is to take the best player available. However, it also makes sense to take needs into consideration. If you have a top-level quarterback, for example, a team would not be taking another quarterback early even if he’s the best player available. This is why when I do my rankings and my big board, I prefer to look at players in tiers. This way if you have a group of players ranked somewhat evenly, you then look to fill a need.

When looking at this mock draft, there were multiple trades that took place by Ryan Poles — all of them moving back. Some people might be looking to argue that Ryan Poles isn’t going to be able to land this amount of picks and that may be true, but just realize that there are a few teams who average more than three Draft Day trades per year. Also, the simulator I used, Pro Football Network made these trades available — they were not forced for dramatic effects.

Alright, let’s see what Ryan Poles does with his first pick in this 2022 NFL mock draft.
