The Chicago Bears trade back with Washington

The Chicago Bears have pick No. 39 in the second round. It is the first pick the team has since Ryan Pace traded the team’s 2022 first-round pick to the Giants last year to move up from 20 to 11 in order to select Ryan Pace. To be honest, let’s thank Ryan Pace for this one as Justin Fields is going to be electric in the NFL — stop just stat watching.

When Ryan Poles turn came at pick No. 39, he received a call from Martin Mayhew, the GM of the Commanders. Mayhew offers Poles the 47th pick this year and a 2023 fourth-round pick next year. With plenty of players in the same tier for me still on the board, I gladly accepted the trade to add draft capital to next year’s draft.

Honestly, I was glad that I did. As picks went off the board, I saw two players I was hoping to pick from at 39. Jahan Dotson was my top wide receiver target, but he went before 39 rolled around. As you can see, wide receiver is where I was leaning early, and well, spoiler alert, it is where I went with the Chicago Bears’ first pick in this 2022 NFL mock draft.
