Chicago Bears Round 2, Pick No. 64 (Via Denver) : Nicholas Petit-Frere, OT

In most cases, I could argue that the Bears need to take a receiver here. However, I’m not a huge fan of the players that were available here and decided to double down on the offensive line. While the need for a wide receiver is important, I’d argue that building a young, explosive, and long-term offensive line group for Fields is even more important.

Another mock draft article on here does an excellent job breaking down Petit-Frere, so I’ll just quickly highlight some of the reasons why he should be reunited with his college quarterback. He’s great in terms of athletic ability, strength, and quickness off the line.

With a 6’5″, 315-pound frame, the Ohio State prospect is quite literally built to play offensive tackle in the NFL, and could immediately compete for the opening at the right side. What’s surprising about his game is his flexibility and fluidity at his size: I think it’s something that makes him a steal at 64 here.
