Chicago Bears Round 6, Pick No. 201 (via Arizona): Alex Wright, EDGE

A productive player at UAB, Alex Wright needs some work on his pass-rushing technique but still managed to use his strength and speed to be productive while in college. His long arms and athletic build make him a solid project to invest in for a Bears defense that recently traded away star EDGE rusher, Khalil Mack. Wright’s college accolades include being Conference USA All-Freshman Team and Second-Team All-Conference Honors in 2021.

Chicago Bears Round 7, Pick No. 244 (via Arizona): Tre Turner, WR

A taller receiver, the Chicago Bears finish this mock draft with a solid athlete in Tre Turner. He could fit the mold of more of a deep threat in this Bears offense, as he averaged 17.35 yards per reception during his four years at Virginia Tech. He helped boost his draft profile by participating in two pro days, including one with quarterback prospect Tre Turner. His work ethic and production at Virginia Tech should warrant him an opportunity to compete for a spot on the Bears.

Overall thoughts:

Trading into the first is a daunting task, but this mock draft allows the Bears to do so and still make several draft selections while loading up on 2023 picks. Poles walks away from this mock draft with two starting-caliber offensive linemen, two solid wide receiver prospects, and three versatile defensive pieces. If the Bears were to get back into the first round, this would be a great way to capitalize on said move.
