5 positions where Chicago Bears still need to sign players
2. Chicago Bears must add pass catchers
Earlier this month we highlighted what could be a potential plan for the Chicago Bears wide receiver room. As anyone could suspect that room is incomplete at this point. However, with a move or two, it could wind up looking a lot better on paper than it does right now.
You could currently shape out the Bears’ depth chart to have Darnell Mooney outside, and Byron Pringle in the slot. Equanimous St. Brown would be the fifth wideout, so the team is missing one wideout who can start on the outside, and then one who would be a fourth wide receiver on the depth chart.
The hope would be that someone prominent enough to play outside would fall to the Bears in round two, then the team would likely just need to sign an experienced veteran who knows the role of a fourth wide receiver.
If they cannot hit wide receiver early enough, they may have to look for a veteran who can start on the outside. Both cases leave them signing a veteran wide receiver at some point. It would make sense to find out what type of wideout they land in the draft before they dip back into the veteran wide receiver market, but it is hard to see the wideout depth chart and assume that only the draft could complete the room.
