With a haul like this, the Chicago Bears could truly be in contention for being the top team in the NFC North by 2023. The draft, as well as their large allowance for the next offseason’s free agency, could make for a very dangerous team in the AFC-dominant NFL as of now.
Now, obviously, there’s no way to know who’s going when— especially in a draft where there are fewer guaranteed picks— but if the Chicago Bears can come away with this haul, there’s going to be something special in Soldier Field on Sundays— or Thursdays and Mondays.
Getting Justin Fields the weapons and protection he needs is the most important part of this draft. Even if they don’t get the exact players, building around Justin Fields needs to be the top priority for Ryan Poles and the Chicago Bears.
It might not happen, and the Bears could definitely trade down if the value’s there, but with the picks, they have as of right now, this draft seems like one of the best possible outcomes for the Chicago Bears.
And with the AFC being the focal point of the NFL, the time is now for the Bears to figure it out and get to the playoffs. Once they’re in, it’s anyone’s game, especially on the NFC side.
As long as there’s progression, however, Bears fans will be okay with a less than ideal 2022 season, as long as the 2023 season looks like their contention year.
