When we work our way through these NFL mock drafts, the point is to narrow down players who may be available for the Chicago Bears to draft when they are on the clock. It’s also for us to determine which players we like at certain positions and give them grades while building up our own draft board. Finally, and probably most importantly, we are looking to try and determine who or at least what position Ryan Poles and the Bears will select at each pick.
There are some bread crumbs for us to follow when we do this. One, we must listen to what general manager, Ryan Poles, and head coach, Matt Eberflus are both telling us. We must also follow the free agency moves to see exactly what positions the team may be focusing on in free agency versus the NFL Draft.
For example, the Chicago Bears have added some solid players on defense who fit the Chicago Bears new scheme. With Robert Quinn, Trevis Gipson and Al-Quadin Muhammad locked in at defensive end, it’s highly unlikely the team will add another end early in the 2022 NFL Draft.
If we look at the wide receiver group, the additions of Byron Pringle and Equanimeous St. Brown are not home run signings. In fact, St. Brown is not someone I would count on in this offense at all in 2022. Pringle is an underrated signing that I am in love with, but it is apparent that the team is going to look to add more receivers in the draft. Will that be early or late though? Looking at who they have had meetings with at the Senior Bowl, the Combine and at Halas Hall, my assumption is they will look to add a receiver later in the draft rather than with one of their second-round picks.
With this in mind and rumors going around Twitter that teams believe the Bears will focus on the offensive line early…
I took to the mock draft simulators to see exactly what that might look like in a couple of weeks. It also puts a stop to the rumors that this team isn’t building around Justin Fields.
