Chicago Bears acquire several late picks in this 2022 mock draft
By Ryan Heckman
To round out the deepest Bears draft class in recent memory, the Bears go back to offense and select a running back. Currently, the depth chart has David Montgomery, Khalil Herbert and Darrynton Evans. But, adding a fourth back would round out this room and give the Bears the needed depth to go four deep.
What’s nice about Pledger’s play style is that it’s similar to that of Montgomery. He is a patient runner who can be effective both inside and outside. Pledger is quick-footed which allows him to make more decisive cuts and get upfield in a hurry.
Possessing average speed, Pledger definitely relies more on his eyes and ability to shed tacklers. He doesn’t go down easily and is a hard-nosed runner — again, the type of guy Eberflus will want on this football team.
Pledger stands just 5-foot-9 but weighs nearly 200 pounds. For his size, he’s a dense, strong frame and that’s why he’s not easy to bring down. Even if he’s used more on special teams or he’s there for any potential injury during the season, Pledger would be as good of a fourth running back as the Bears could find.
