Scouting Report. WR. player. 57. Pick Analysis. South Alabama. JalenTolbert. 3

After drafting Christian Watson earlier, the Bears go right back to wide receiver to try and stack that room. With pick No. 71, the Bears draft Jalen Tolbert out of South Alabama. Giving Fields three legitimate, young threats at wide receiver would turn this offense around in a hurry.

Tolbert stands 6-foot-3 and weighs around 190 pounds, presenting ideal size for the position. Tolbert is a real playmaker who can do a lot of things well. He plays with speed, both long speed and after the catch.

He is flexible, too, being able to play both outside and in the slot. Tolbert made plays no matter how he got the ball in college, averaging a hefty 17.6 yards per reception over his career at South Alabama.

At the pro level, Tolbert will have to prove he can handle a full route tree. After playing lesser competition in college, it seemed too easy at times for Tolbert to make a play. But, at the NFL level, he’ll have to open up that arsenal of routes.

Over the last two seasons, specifically, Tolbert caught 146 passes for a total of 2,559 yards and 16 touchdowns.
