NFL Comparison: Danny Amendola

Average Mock Draft Position: 136

Kyle Phillips may turn out to be the best day-three wide receiver of the group. He has a pretty defined path to the NFL and the question with him is more about his fit with the Chicago Bears and his cost overall.

Phillips is an easy evaluation in the sense that you can tie a lot of the stereotypical Patriots slot wideouts to his name. Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola immediately come to mind as you see the quick and shifty route runner work between defenders with his jitterbug-like movements.

Phillips could get drafted in round four and get on the field as a rookie. Still, he is not an explosive playmaker, he does not have a big catch radius, and his role is defined by the timing routes of the slot.

While that can work for a quarterback like Tom Brady, Justin Fields scrambles much more and takes far more deep shots down the field. He needs players with speed and players who can go up and get it. It is not the perfect mesh.

When you add in that the Bears pick 148, and in mock drafts, he is often taken around pick 136 it is hard to say that he would even be around for the team. His talent as the possible steal of day three makes him a must-add to the list, but Phillips is down the list because there are better fits.
