3 OL prospects Chicago Bears would have to take 39th if they fell
Is Tyler Smith a perfect fit with Chicago Bears?
Average Mock Draft Position: 29
NFL Comparison: Austin Jackson
Tyler Smith is a player that screams out a fit with the Chicago Bears. He is a player we did a draft profile early into the draft process, knowing that he is a good fit.
Ryan Poles has stressed a few things on his offensive line. He wants them to be young, nasty, and versatile. Tyler Smith arguably checks all of them.
He is the youngest player in his position and will be 21 as a rookie. He is less refined than Raimann, but over three years younger. Tyler Smith is also one of the nastiest blockers of the top prospects.
Smith has issues with his hands and can get too erratic, but it is better to have a player that you want to ease back rather than a player that you have to train to be more aggressive. That is what Smith is. Smith is already a mauler in the run game, and if he can get a bit more even-keeled in pass protection, he will have all of the traits to turn into an upper-tier starter.
His rawness and the small school element could push him to 39. If he does fall that far, it appears as though Ryan Poles would be the person to jump all over Tyler Smith.
