Chicago Bears Big Board No. 5: Roger McCreary, Cornerback, Auburn

Projected: Late First Round

Target for the Bears at Pick(s): 39 and 48

Roger McCreary made a name for his amazing effort covering both Jameson Williams and John Metchie of Alabama when Alabama and Auburn played in the Iron Bowl in 2021. For McCreary, this was the best game of his college football career where he held arguably the best college football receiver at the time in Jameson Williams to a very underwhelming game before he would later get ejected.

McCreary is one of the most versatile corners in the draft because of his ability to excel in both man and zone coverages, press, and when he’s playing with cushion. McCreary is the complete package at corner. He’s one of the most physical corners in all of college football, and he also has very good ball skills, as well as very good instincts. McCreary also can travel around the field and shadow, even in the slot.

McCreary is a true competitor and will be loved by any team that drafts him because of the certain edge he plays with. McCreary will be the best fit in a man coverage scheme that allows him to play physically as he is at his best in press coverage.
