The Chicago Bears select Thomas Booker at 148 in the 2022 NFL Draft

Next up is the 148th pick in the fifth round. As luck would have it there is a defensive lineman that is scheme versatile and has the skills to play the 3-technique as well. So it feels prudent to add another hard-to-find 3-tech to their defense who can fill in at multiple defensive line roles.

This player is Thomas Booker and his best physical attribute is an explosive first step. He also has the capacity to make the “Bear” hug tackles to stuff a running play at the line of scrimmage. In order to be a true pass-rush threat, Booker will need refinement but he has the physical skills to become a good pass rusher.

Booker played for Stanford and you can see from his interviews that he is quite intelligent and also has potential leadership skills. Brett Kollman and EJ Snyder identified Booker as a gem in the rough in one of their Bootleg Football videos. Here is a link to a really good interview with Brett Kollman and Thomas Booker.
