It seems as though this week has taken forever to get to for Chicago Bears fans, but here we are. It is time for the 2022 NFL Draft.
This offseason has been rather tumultuous for the Bears, as they have introduced many new faces while saying goodbye to a good amount as well. First-year general manager Ryan Poles has gone full-on rebuild but has followed a very strict, patient plan.
Without adding a whole lot of talent in this year’s free agency pool, Poles has not addressed many of the major needs on this Bears roster — specifically, surrounding Justin Fields with enough talent in Year 2. But now, Poles has the chance to redeem himself depending on how he handles the draft.
Many have the Bears trading back with one of their second-round picks, but that’s not necessarily set in stone, and Poles could change the landscape of this team if he holds onto those selections.
If the Chicago Bears keep both of their second-round picks, Ryan Poles could do some serious damage
One of the most recent draft rumors has teams seeing a late first-round run on quarterbacks, with several trade-backs. If there is a later run on quarterbacks in the first round, then surely some excellent talent will end up falling to the second.
The Bears could really benefit from a weaker quarterback class this year because teams with a need are going to reach higher than they should.
This year’s quarterback class doesn’t have a clear-cut number one guy, which makes this draft even more polarizing. Even if the Bears did have a first-round pick, trading back might end up being their best bet regardless.
So, where could the Bears find themselves at the end of the second round? There are five particular scenarios that would put this team in a phenomenal position going forward.
