1. Offensive Line – Defensive Line – Wide Receiver
This scenario is somewhat similar to our first scenario. They start with one of the three offensive linemen. It is hard to get away from the idea that Raimann, Smith, and Green would be the best fits with the Chicago Bears regardless of fans screaming for a wideout.
In the last scenario, the team immediately went wideout, in this one, they wait a minute. As noted, if they want to go with a 3-technique that would fill the DeForeset Bucker or Larry Ogunjobi role, they have to do it in round two.
They may miss Logan Hall, but DeMarvin Leal and Perrion Winfrey are good enough in that role to be considered in this range. Still, it is hard to see either falling and it is hard to find a great fit in the draft after them. So, they go with the more rare position and build up the trenches.
Of course, with the trenches taken care of it is an easy decision to go wideout. While Pierce does have his steam picking up, a perfect world sees him at pick 71, somewhere that was on par with his stock not long ago.
Still, Khalil Shair and Jalen Tolbert possibly falling makes it easier to wait on a wideout.
If the Chicago Bears walked away from day two of the 2022 NFL draft with Tyler Smith, DeMarvin Leal, and Khalil Shakir would it be a big win for the team?
