2. Zach Thomas Performance

Overall San Diego State ran the football more than they passed. Thomas has 1,140 snaps as a run blocker to 977 snaps in pass protection. According to PFF, he had an 89 grade in run blocking and was proficient both in zone and power schemes.

In pass protection, he was responsible for five sacks, four hits, and 23 pressures. Overall, his worst performance was on the left side and was much better on the right side.

Still, of the two, he is a much better run blocker. With the 89 grade in run blocking, he brought a 69 pass-blocking grade. Scouts note that Thomas has a quick first step and has the power to hang in the NFL but he does not quite have the feet that can handle change of direction or pass rushers with elite speed.

During his time at SDSU Thomas was a first-team All-MWC performer, and was a team captain last season.
