The Chicago Bears should add Nate Herbig, Offensive Guard

With the current holes still on the Bears roster, they desperately need at least someone with starting experience to compete for the right guard position. Nate Herbig would be solid competition and has familiarity with Ian Cunningham, the assistant general manager to Ryan Poles.

Herbig isn’t a well-known name in the NFL. He is very similar to the type of talent Ryan Bates is. He isn’t a regular starter at right guard, but he performed very well for the Philadelphia Eagles in a limited fashion over the last two seasons. Herbig started 12 games in 2020 and five games in 2021 earning himself a solid PFF grade in each season.

Herbig may have been a backup, but he’s played the third-most snaps among Eagles’ offensive linemen over the last two seasons. The Eagles planned on having him be the backup center to replace Jason Kelce, but they just drafted Cameron Jurgens this offseason to now do that.

With Cody Whitehair and Lucas Patrick secured, Herbig could not only be an immediate starter but also could be a long-term option as he is only 23-years-old still. He brings over 1,400 snaps of NFL experience and experience playing alongside star talents like Jason Kelce and Jordan Mailata.
