The Chicago Bears should sign Anthony Hitchens to a short-term deal

We have already talked about Anthony Hitchens being an option for the Chicago Bears. Ryan Poles has a connection to him from Kansas City, but the true connection is with the head coach, Matt Eberflus. This is the connection that should drive Anthony Hitchens to Chicago.

Hitchens was the middle linebacker of the Dallas Cowboys from 2014 to 2018. Eberflus was the linebackers coach and defensive passing game coordinator of the Cowboys when the Cowboys drafted Hitchens in 2014 and through the 2017 season. Hitchens had a very solid career in Dallas while working with Eberflus. He finished the 2017 season with 84 combined tackles (55 solos) and a forced fumble. He isn’t afraid of the hard work Eberflus requires.

The Chicago Bears and Hitchens met just less than a month ago. Now that the team has finalized their NFL Draft, I think it would be prudent to bring in Hitchens on a short-term deal. He can play the middle linebacker position while Roquan Smith plays the weakside and Nicholas Morrow plays the strong side. This signing makes perfect sense.
