Ja’Tyre Carter is a sixth-round pick for the Chicago Bears from Southern. Coming from a small school, Carter had to standpoint more than others to get noticed. While he is athletic enough to make NFL thresholds, in some areas he was not as impressive, and his total Athletic Score is rated at 6.31 out of 10.
When it comes to NFL comparisons, there are not many players of his size and similar athleticism. However, one player who was drafted in 2020 has a lot of similarities, and that is Hakeem Adeniji.
Below you can see how they compare.

There is a small difference in the jumps, but even the poor shuttle from Carter can be compared to the poor 3-cone time for Adeniji. Adeniji was a tackle at Kansas, but with the slow agility times, teams knew that his feet were not going to be quick enough to live at tackle in the NFL.
The same can be said for Ja’Tyre Carter, who projects to guard in the NFL. Some fans will look at Adeiji and say that this is not a great use of resources, but Adeniji started in 25 games over the first two years of his NFL career.
The Bengals worked to move him back to depth this offseason, but a reliable depth option who can start, and was on a line that was able to get to the Super Bowl would be an okay outcome for Ja’Tyre Carter.
Considering Adeinji is also a sixth-round pick, also had to move to guard, and also has questionable footwork that led to pushing athleticsm closer to average, the comparison should be considered fair.
We are not expecting a world-beater here, but if he can be a capable starter who holds up enough that he is not a liability, it is probably a win considering the use of resources.
