The 2022 NFL Draft came and went and we now have a few months to react to what just happened. While the Chicago Bears had limited picks, they were able to turn it into much more through trade backs. It gave the team a chance to fill the depth, and possibly push some current players out the door.

However, on the flip side, there were players who may have seen their job get more secure this weekend as well. Who are the biggest winners of the weekend?

3. Byron Pringle remains a top WR for Chicago Bears

When Byron Pringle was arrested recently for reckless driving there were questions about how this would affect his roster situation. It is not a serious crime, but Ryan Poles is trying to establish a culture. On the flip side, this is the number two wide receiver on the roster entering the 2022 NFL draft.

While the team drafted Velus Jones in round three, it is pretty clear that Pringle will start the offseason as the second wide receiver. Had the Bears drafted a wide receiver such as George Pickens with the 48th pick, you could argue that he would have jumped into the number two role immediately.

Had the team drafted two wide receivers you could see that the depth may be putting Pringle on notice. With just Jones, at the worst Pringle will be on the field for all three-wide sets. The team does not have the depth and now the assets to replace him via the draft.

Jones could push him and take that WR2 spot, but at worst he falls to third. Still, Jones is being praised for his special team’s play, and his gadget ability which makes it sound like Pringle is locked into the number two spot. His spot on the roster is locked, and he will be a starter this year.
