1. Eddie Jackson quietly won the weekend
Fans are annoyed with Eddie Jackson but something tells me that he is going to bounce back this year. The pros and cons of Jackson are pretty apparent. He is a ball hawk who can roam the backend but he is not a physical tackler.
The Chicago Bears have been inching him into the box more and more since Adrian Amos left, and it has hindered his play. In signing Dane Cruikshank, a box safety, it felt like Ryan Poles and Matt Eberflus realized they needed to get Jackson into center field.
With the draft pick of Jaquan Brisker, it is apparent. Brisker is the definition of a box safety. He is the player that will jam tight ends, and fill gaps in the run game. Brisker is the player who makes sure that Jackson gets to stay in the deep end and not worry about tackling nearly as much.
The other thing that Brisker brings is dependability. When Jackson knew that Amos would be in the right spot he was able to freelance and take risks. When Jackson has to play within the structure to accommodate for the others, he is not good.
Jackson will not have to worry about Jaquan Brisker. It can allow Jackson to freelance with the Intention that Brisker has is back.
The addition makes a lot of sense on paper, and now they have to execute, and put Jackson in better positions to win.
