The Chicago Bears have several breakout candidates for the 2022 season

Just because the Chicago Bears have low expectations entering the 2022 season doesn’t mean that all of their players do too. Even if the Bears finish towards the bottom of the NFC standings like many analysts are projecting, they are still likely to have several impact players.

With the departures of former leaders on both sides of the ball, such as Allen Robinson and Khalil Mack, there will be new opportunities for younger, less experienced players. Additionally, a head coaching change will likely trigger major philosophical changes for the Bears, both on and off the field. Changes in scheme and personnel will make the 2022 Bears look nearly unrecognizable compared to the teams of the Matt Nagy era.

Much to the chagrin of fans, the Bears look to be in the early stages of a rebuild. Though the plan is for a quick turnaround, we’ve seen over the years that is easier said than done. The Bears will have both the cap space and draft capital to make a splash in the 2023 offseason. But you can’t build a contending roster overnight.

The best thing the Bears can do to expedite this rebuild is to look for franchise cornerstones that are already inside Halas Hall. If enough players can step up, the Bears could find themselves only a position or two away from being in playoff consideration. The Bears have plenty of young players who will have a chance to prove themselves this upcoming season.
