3 comparisons to Chicago Bears RB David Montgomery through 3 years
1. Josh Jacobs compares best to the Chicago Bears RB
This is certainly the most fun comparison, although it will not give us insight Into what we could be expecting moving forward. Still, we have two players from the same draft class with very similar stats. Josh Jacobs went ahead of David Montgomery, but now that they are both three years into the NFL, who has been more productive?

This is Jacobs has just four more touches than David Montgomery. He did manage to create 107 more yards, though. That is a pretty big discrepancy and comes down to rushing. Montgomery averages 3.9 yards per attempt while Jacobs is at 4.2.
Montgomery has been a bit more productive as a pass-catcher. Certainly, this is where the fans will come in and admit the Raiders’ offensive line has been better than Chicago for all of the past three seasons.
This is fair, but when you factor in for that you could argue that Montgomery and Jacobs are nearly the same players. Montgomery being the much later pick obvious ties to him being the much better value as well.
Still, these two are about equal and it would be hard to say exactly which of the two has been better since getting drafted. One thing that is worth noting is that Jacobs had his fifth-year option declined.
Montgomery did not get that option year so he will be a free agent next offseason anyways. Either way, it will be fascinating to see how the two stacks up in terms of contracts, since both will get a new one shortly.
