1. Zach Thomas could start for Chicago Bears next year

Of all of the offensive linemen that were added via the draft or the UDFA process the most likely to get on the field is Zach Thomas. Thomas may even have a chance to play week one if he is able to show that he can withstand the jump to the NFL.

Thomas has played guard and tackle in college and while he mostly played tackle at San Diego State, he is expected to move to guard in the NFL. Through the early portions of offseason workouts, Thomas has gotten work at right guard. That is by far the most wide-open position on the depth chart. Even diehard Bears fans cannot say that they know for sure who would be starting at right guard if the team had to lineup tomorrow.

With that in mind. Thomas has every chance to win it. Athletically, physically, and even his college draft profile resembles Ryan Bates, a UDFA who the Chicago Bears tried to sign this offseason to start at right guard.

It would not be outlandish to think that Thomas could eventually turn into that caliber of player, or that Chicago is hoping that Thomas can be a nice backup plan for their pursuit for Ryan Bates.
