The 2022 free agency class hasn’t been too favorable for the Chicago Bears thus far. From most of the big-name wide receivers being franchise-tagged or extended to Larry Ogunjobi’s nixed deal, the Bears couldn’t fill nearly as many holes as they had hoped.

To the front office’s credit, they’ve shown great discipline and patience throughout the process. Ryan Poles has made it clear that he would much rather not sign players than overpay for them out of desperation. This new approach to building a roster is a breath of fresh air compared to Ryan Pace’s aggressive and sometimes reckless strategies.

However, having cap space for the future and improving the team for this season doesn’t have to be mutually exclusive. At this stage of the offseason, players will be far more likely to take team-friendly deals. Making an effort to fill a couple of holes could dramatically change the outlook on the Bears roster.
