Chicago Bears veteran likely to be cut this offseason: Michael Joseph, S

Here is a name that some Chicago Bears fans probably do not even realize is on the roster. Michael Joseph was an undrafted free agent out of the University of Dubuque and signed with Chicago in 2018. I was a little surprised that he is still on the roster, but I don’t see him making the final 53.

Joseph was brought in by the former regime and he isn’t talented enough to be kept by the new regime. At least not over some of the guys that Ryan Poles brought in. Those players were scouted and signed by the new general manager unlike Joseph.

The Chicago Bears are likely to keep no more than four to five safeties. Last year, the team kept four. Eddie Jackson and Jaquan Brisker are the obvious starters. DeAndre Houston-Carson and Dane Cruikshank are the two backups I believe are locks to stay. This does not leave much room for an undrafted free agent who has only played in one game. A game where he saw three snaps on defense and six snaps on special teams.

This cut shouldn’t be shocking to anyone who actually remembers Joseph is on the roster. However, this next player may come to a surprise to many.
