3. Lucas Patrick, Free Agency

One thing that Ryan Pace did not do nearly enough invested in the offensive line. Ryan Poles did not spend big, but he went out and added a lot of names to bring in competition at most positions. Still, the one position that he did come out and ensure that he got somebody was center.

The Chicago Bears went into last season with Sam Mustipher, and essentially their two guards as the backup centers. It was not the best plan. Now, you can argue that Mustipher will be the number three by August.

Lucas Patrick will jump in and immediately become the team’s starting center, and there probably will not even be a competition. Patrick not only has the money that the team went out and spent on him, but they also have the realization that Patrick is following offensive coordinator Luke Getsy from Green Bay.

Getsy was not a play-caller, or offensive line coach, but it is obvious he had a say in bringing In Patrick, and he knows that Patrick fits the way he wants to call plays. If the Chicago Bears can get the center position right it is a huge win. Patrick will be just 26 years old next season and it could give the team a viable option for the foreseeable future.
