2. Mario Edwards

Mario Edwards is in an interesting situation. When the Chicago Bears signed him there was a question as to where he fits on the depth chart considering he was often playing in a 4-3 defense. So, he was technically not in the right scheme last yea,r and while most players will be going through a scheme change, it could be for the best for Mario Edwards.

At the same time, this is a Ryan Pace signing and the roster is going to flip over soon. Edwards will only be 29 next season, but the roster is starting to trend younger, and that may end up with Edwards being let go after the season.

The Chicago Bears could save roughly $3.5M if they move on from Mario Edwards after the season. Edwards is a player who could see increased snaps and could perform well enough in them that the money saved is a bargain. At the same time, the defensive line may be drastically different at the time next year.
