Chicago Bears Takeaway No. 2: Dakota Dozier is carted off the field

Well, the Chicago Bears look to have suffered their first major injury of 2022. Alright, I’m not sure how big of an injury this is seeing I didn’t expect Dakota Dozier to make the final roster anyway. That said, this appears to be a severe injury nonetheless.

Dozier suffered an apparent left leg injury and had to be carted off the field. The Chicago Bears had to change fields because of the injury.

No matter what you think about Dozier, losing a player who is seeing significant reps with the second-string offensive line is difficult. This team is already thin at the guard position and Dozier was practicing as the left guard at the time.

Right now Dozier is one of six offensive guards on the roster. There’s speculation that one of the tackles, Larry Borom or Teven Jenkins, could kick inside to guard too. If we add in Dieter Eiselen and Doug Kramer then the team potentially had nine guards to choose from. Of those nine, three of them are rookies. This team needed to add another guard to the mix before the Dozier injury in my opinion and it’s even more important now that Dozier might be done.
