10 Stock Up Chicago Bears from mandatory OTAs
1. Trevis Gipson, Edge
We could just copy everything from the slides of Carson Taylor and Dominique Robinson and slide them here. Still, it is a bit of a different situation for Gipson.
As a rookie, he was behind Jeremiah Attaochu on the depth and then passed him up by year two. Now, in year three Attaochu is cut, and Gipson is the top edge rusher at OTAs. Sure, without Al-Quadin Muhammad and Robert Quinn in the mix, the top three edge rushers turned into Gipson.
Beyond that, it was Gipson working with Dominique Robinson and Carson Taylor as their big three. Considering there are two rookies working with him and one of them in undrafted Gipson has quickly found himself as the big man on campus.
Gipson also gets to go against Teven Jenkins, who struggled, Braxton Jones, another rookie, and Larry Borom, who is playing both sides. No disrespect to the talent around him, but once again we see Gipson as the most experience and a player who should be the best here.
With that said, Gipson did dominate so you cannot hate that. He is showing that he is ready for a year three breakout and was the acting top dog for the week. A big step up for Gipson who still did not lock up a spot ahead of Attaochu at this time last year.
