As we get closer to the Chicago Bears’ opening training camp, we are going to be counting down the best players on the roster from 90 to 1. This list will be looking at the most impactful players from a best-case scenario standpoint. How valuable could their play impact the roster?

We are now on to number 86 on our list.

Chicago Bears 2022 Roster Ranking: No. 86 Willie Wright

One thing that Willie Wright has going for him is that he is an offensive lineman. Wright could be off of the roster quickly, as shown by the ranking. At the same time, he could be a starting right guard for the team considering how little the depth is.

Wright has been in the NFL since 2019. He spent his college career at Tulsa but was undrafted before signing with the Cleveland Browns.

Wright spent 2019 with the Browns and was let go after training camp. He signed with the Atlanta Falcons right before the start of the season and caught onto their practice squad. Wright spent his first game as an active player in the NFL 2020 with the Falcons.

Then, Wright was at training camp with the team in 2021, but with a new regime in place, he did not make the roster. Wright did not catch on in 2021, and that is why he was a free agent for Ryan Poles to sign well before free agency.

Willie Wright wound up being one of the first Ryan Poles roster moves. He signed him less than a month after being hired.

Still, that does not ensure much because he could not sign most of the free agents yet. For Wright, he is a player who spent the past three years bouncing around the NFL. It is great that he is around for four training camps after being a UDFA, but there is minimal upside here.

The lack of depth on the offensive line is what is helping him get a little bit higher than others, but he is likely a player to push others in the camp, and a practice squad spot would be an impressive feat.
