With the days counting down until training camp we are counting down the Chicago Bears 2022 roster. This will be a look at who the most valuable players on the roster are, and how their best outcome could impact the roster. As we are just starting things we are at number 88.

Chicago Bears roster ranking 2022: No. 88 Auzoyah Alufohai

Auzoyah Alufohai signed with the Chicago Bears in 2021. The team also re-signed him to a futures contract in February of 2022, before the team finalized the hiring of Ryan Poles. This can speak to why Auzoyah Alufohai is so low on the list, but it really was a formality considering he was such a cost-controlled bargain.

Auzoyah Alufohai was a UDFA in 2020 coming out of Western Georgia. He was not from a big school and was not known, so he went to the Houston Texans, to play in the city that he grew up in and went to high school in.

Auzoyah Alufohai stuck around Houston for the 2020 season but did not make the roster in 2021. He actually signed with Chicago in September of 2021, but only stuck around for a week. He spent two weeks on the Packers practice squad in November, then signed back with Chicago to finish his 2021 season.

Now, he enters his third NFL season playing for three different teams so far, and even more General Managers when you factor in the Bears having multiple.

Alufohai is a big body who would be best competing for a nose tackle role on the roster. That would put him firmly behind Khyiris Tonga and Mike Pennel, but it also gives him a clear and defined path to the roster. There are only two hurdles to clear instead of a whole heap of them.

Still, as of now, he is an outsider from the practice squad. A best-case appears to be the backup nose tackle, which holds him down at number 88.
