With the long wait until the start of training camp, we are going to be counting down the Chicago Bears roster from 90 to number one as we count down the days until the season. This ranking will look at how these players will impact the team in a best-case scenario.

With that in mind, we have made it from 90 to number 82.

Chicago Bears 2022 roster ranking: No. 82 Allie Green IV

Allie Green is a UDFA rookie from Missouri. He joins Kevin Shaa, as the second position player who is a UDFA rookie on the list.

Allie Green is a cornerback from Missouri. The SEC experience is certainly helping his case. Beyond that, he is 6’2″, and over 200 pounds, so his size is ideal for bigger NFL wide receivers.

The issues for Green come beyond that. Green was a transfer who was at Tulsa from 2017-20, so he does not have the most SEC experience. In fact, he only started six games a graduate senior.

Beyond that, he did not get an invite to the NFL combine. That may be because teams knew he was not athletic. Allie Green ran a 4.71 40-yard dash at his Pro Day.

You just are not going to see NFL cornerbacks who ran a 4.7 in the NFL. You could argue that 4.6 is far too slow and would not cut it, but there is no precedent for a 4.7 player to make it.

So, the pros are that he is experienced, tall, long, and could take on bigger guys. The cons are that he is slow, did not dominate SEC competition, and most teams did not think they could find more untapped potential, which is why the ideal body type for cornerback wound up being undrafted.

The Chicago Bears are not necessarily deep at cornerback, but in drafting Kyler Gordon, and signing Tavon Young they certainly boosted the depth.

Next. Ranking Roquan Smith in his draft class. dark

Allie Green is a player who should see making the practice squad as a win, and perhaps we learn that his awful Pro Day was just that, one awful day.
