Before every Chicago Bears fan who is older than 45 years old starts shaking their fists and shouting at clouds, let me tell you that I am not looking at any players prior to the age of the internet. Also, when I say prior to the age of the internet, I am talking about when fantasy football sites started offering the ability to play fantasy football online. CBS for example was not available until 1997. Yahoo is reportedly the first online site that offered free fantasy football leagues in 1999. The NFL did not even adopt its own fantasy football site until 2010.

This is why you will not see guys like Walter Payton, Gale Sayers or Mike Ditka on this list. I don’t care if you tell me how you were playing fantasy football in the 1960s and had to manually compile the stats using the local newspaper, followed by calling each fantasy owner with the weekly results. Instead, we are going to only go back as far as 1997 to determine who were the five best fantasy football players to ever play for the Chicago Bears.

While making these determinations, I also want to point out that I’m not going to take one-year wonders into account. I’m only going to consider players who had some sustained success while playing here in Chicago. When considering players, I am focusing on half-point PPR scoring, but if I’m being honest I don’t think it will matter much in the grand scheme of everything.

The sixth-best fantasy football player of the Chicago Bears: Robbie Gould, K

Look, I cannot stand kickers when it comes to fantasy football. In most of my leagues, kickers are no longer existent or considered. The ability of a player like this to completely change the course of a fantasy week for the better or worse is too frustrating for me. Skill positions only and even individual defensive players make the best fantasy leagues in my opinion. No need for these double-doinks of existence.

That said, when we look at the late 1990s into the 2000s, kickers were a very impart part of a majority of fantasy football leagues. Robbie Gould is the leading point scorer for the Chicago Bears. He has a total of 1,207 points, while the next closest to him is Kevin Butler with 1,116. Gould will turn 40 this year and is entering his 17th season. He has an 86.6% field goal percentage and might be one of the best kickers to ever play the game. He is consistently a top-10 fantasy kicker too.
