The best fantasy football player of the Chicago Bears: Matt Forte, RB
Say hello to the most underrated player I have ever seen in a Chicago Bears uniform. Even from a fantasy perspective, no one gave Matt Forte the light of day — at least not compared to some of the other top backs. What kept Forte off the top of most fantasy owners’ draft boards is the fact that the Chicago Bears struggled to be consistent on offense. This led to Forte seeing fewer touchdowns than guys like Adrian Peterson and LaDainian Tomlinson. This will keep him out of any Hall of Fame conversations too.
What set Matt Forte apart from running backs when he was brought into the NFL in 2008 was his ability to dominate in the passing game. He was the Christian McCaffrey before McCaffrey. In his rookie year, Forte finished as the RB3. He scored eight rushing touchdowns and four receiving. He had a bit of a sophomore slump in 2009 and finished as the RB15.
In his eight years with the Chicago Bears, Forte finished as a top-10 running back in five seasons and never finished below RB15. Forte is ninth-overall in franchise scoring. He used to hold the NFL record for most catches as a running back with 102, but that was broken by McCaffrey in 2018 when he caught 107 balls and then broken again by McCaffrey in 2019 with 116. With who else has played for the Bears, Forte is easily the best fantasy player this team has had to date.
