3. Jaylon Johnson

After his first season in the NFL, there were thoughts that he could step up and become an elite cornerback. However, his second year was more like a plateau or small step back instead of a step forward.

Now, his third NFL season is going to be bigger than some fans realize. Matt Eberflus made the point clear when he put Johnson behind Kindle Vildor during OTAs.

This was a message sent that he expects more from Johnson in his third NFL season. This is fair, and it will make this season big for Johnson.

If Johnson performs, he will enter the offseason on the last year of his rookie contract. He will be looking for an extension, and the Bears should not be looking to let him enter 2023 without a deal.

However, if Johnson does not play well in 2022, all of the sudden there could be talk that 2023 Is the last season plays for Chicago. With a new scheme and staff, Johnson needs to hit the ground running and show progress from his second season.
