We are counting down the Chicago Bears roster as we count down the days until the Bears report to training camp. We have moved from 90 to number 62 in our ranking of the most valuable players on the roster.

This is looking at which players could impact the final record by their performance.

Chicago Bears 2022 roster ranking: No. 62 BoPete Keyes

BoPete Keyes is an interesting player on the backend of the roster. He is a former seventh-round pick from 2020 and was with the Chicago Bears in 2021 with Ryan Pace, but he actually does have ties to both Ryan Poles and Matt Eberflus.

The Kansas City Chiefs initially drafted Keyes, and that is where he spent 2020. He did not stick around in 2021, but that is when he spent the summer with Eberflus and the Indianapolis Colts. He was cut early into the season, spent a little bit of time with the Patriots, then found his way to the Bears.

He finished the year with Chicago, and they had his contract rights this offseason.

On one hand, he did not stick with Poles, and Eberflus, on the other, this roster is going through a big transition and he does have a leg up on some of the fringe roster players.

The cornerback depth chart probably has four names that sit higher than any of the depth, but there could be competition for the fifth cornerback spot and beyond that, Keyes could certainly make the practice squad.

With 14-man practice squads on top of the 53-man roster, a 62nd-ranked player should expect to see himself on the practice squad, and that is where you should expect BoPete Keyes to sit entering training camp.

His biggest impact could be special teams as a fifth cornerback who makes the active roster. Of course, injuries could force him into more time. Still, a most likely case is sticking around on PS, and if he does get cut, it would be disappointing from where he currently stands on the depth chart.
