Chicago Bears 2022 roster ranking: No. 51 Trenton Gill

As we slowly count down the days from the end of OTAs to training camp we are also counting down the Chicago Bears roster to see who are the most valuable players on the team. This will be looking at who impacts the roster the most.

We are going from 90 all the way down to number 51.

Chicago Bears 2022 roster ranking: No. 51 Trenton Gill

Trenton Gill is a seventh-round pick from North Carolina State. With him being a seventh-round pick he is going to be pushed up the roster. Beyond that, as a punter, he is likely going to make the roster. Beyond the fact that they drafted a punter, there is no competition to speak on.

Unless Trenton Gill has a disaster of a training camp, he is going to make the roster. With that in mind, he has to get inside the top 53.

Still, he cannot get too far up, this is a punter after all. While he could be pretty good and was obviously good enough that the Chicago Bears did not want to wait until he was a UDFA, he has proven nothing yet.

In a best-case scenario, fans do not think about him much. There are one, maybe two punters who are so good that their skill set is actually none. The rest are better off when nobody thinks about them because they never shank any punts, and they do not have any other possible issues.

Trenton Gill is in a perfect place to be in the group between 50 to 53. He is obviously in the top 53, but cannot be too much further up.

We will keep an eye on how Gill looks in training camp. As of now, the job is his to lose, and if he loses it, it will be someone that they sign in the coming weeks.
