Tajae Sharpe is on the hot seat after the Chicago Bears trade for N’Keal Harry

Here is another wide receiver that I was excited about when I heard he was signing with the Chicago Bears. Tajae Sharpe is a player I have making the final 53-man roster, but the fact that Ryan Poles went out to get another big-bodied wide receiver who fits on the outside means that Sharpe probably hasn’t done enough to this point to stick around.

There is still plenty of time this offseason for Sharpe to prove himself, but I would have to assume he’s going to need to look over his shoulder even more now with N’Keal Harry on the roster. Sharpe was a fifth-round draft pick by the Tennessee Titans in 2016. He had three semi-productive seasons as a backend of the roster player but has always been viewed as replaceable to this point in his career due to many inconsistencies.

This is not saying that N’Keal Harry has been any better — he has been worse. However, the hope here is that he finds a way to lean on his talent now that he has a change of scenery. Harry is still only 24 years old and has more upside than Sharpe. He also now cost the team a seventh-round pick. If Tajae Sharpe and N’Keal Harry are neck and neck, then I’d have to assume Harry is the player the Chicago Bears are keeping in 2022.
