The countdown until training camp is on. With that, we are counting down the Chicago Bears roster from 90 to one to see who the best players are. This will focus on the 2022 roster and which players will have the biggest impact.
We made it down to number 40.
Chicago Bears 2022 roster ranking: No. 40 David Moore
David Moore was a 2017 seventh-round pick for the Seattle Seahawks. Now, he is in the mix to compete for a wide receiver roster spot with the Chicago Bears. He had a nice run with the Seahawks. He hardly played in 2017, but from 2018-2020 was a complimentary threat who had great chemistry with Russell Wilson and added key splash plays.
His 2021 was a wasted season before it even began. He signed with the Carolina Panthers and did not adjust to the new offense at all. They let him go in the summer, and while he caught on with the Denver Broncos, it did not lead to much.
The Chicago Bears are hoping that some of that magic that Moore had with Russell Wilson can wear off on Justin Fields. Fields is at least a stylistic comparison in that both of them are good at moon-dropping the deep ball.
That is where Moore had his best success with Wilson and we could see a similar aspect from Fields. At the same time, he is most likely competing for a fourth wide receiver or possibly a fifth wideout.
For a player ranked number 40, he may not even make the Chicago Bears roster too. That is because the Bears’ depth chart is so deep in flux. They do not have high-end talent, but they have a long list of depth names.
Moore is right in the mix of the depth names that could push him up to three and push him off of the roster. That is how tight this group sits.
