We are counting down the days until training camp by counting down the Chicago Bears from 90 all the way to one. This list focuses on which players will have the biggest impact on wins and losses this year.

We have cracked the top 30, and our up to number 29.

Chicago Bears 2022 roster ranking: No. 29 Cairo Santos

Last Season: No. 37

Cairo Santos was ranked number 37 last season and is now up to number 29. That is likely for two reasons. The first is that the Bears had kicker issues in the past. Santos was strong in 2020, but we all know that it can come and go for some kickers. Putting it together for a second season helped solidify that he was a trusted player on this team and someone who is one of the 30 players that impacts the team more than others. He cannot just be replaced with any other kicker.

The other realization is that the Chicago Bears roster is not quite as deep as it was. This was by the design of Ryan Poles, who was more focused on resetting the books and replenishing the draft capital than he was interested in adding talent to the middle section of the roster.

With the mid-section of the roster being a bit depleted compared to last year, and with Santos being trusted more after two straight seasons with the team it is easy to see him jumping into the top 30.

An argument could be made that he should be higher, but at the same time there are going to compete for starting spots, and when you add in roster depth, some players above Santos could easily wind up as top 22 players.

Santos is right outside of that range and sits at number 29 overall.
