1. Special teams value

We can talk about how Evans is better as a runner, and Ebner is better as a pass-catcher, but that is likely their minor role. Both have return game value, and Evans has a little experience on special teams in the NFL.

Evans has 51 NFL snaps on special teams, and that includes 24 snaps where he was in coverage and not a return option. That could go a long way. Evans also has 10 kick returns in the NFL.

In college, Evans had 56 returns for 1,439 yards and three touchdowns. He averaged 25.7 yards per return. Ebner had 47 returns for 1,187 yards and three touchdowns. Nine fewer returns, but also a 25.3 average is 0.4 down from Evans.

However, the big difference is that Ebner has 28 punt returns for 190 yards and one touchdown. Evans did not return punts in college or in the NFL.

So, Evans has proven himself as a gunner in coverage at times in the NFL, but Ebner could have the edge because he is the better punt returner.
