Chicago Bears wide receiver injuries have depleted an already weak group

The injuries to the Chicago Bears wide receiver group appeared to be happening one after another, as Byron Pringle and N’Keal Harry seemed to simultaneously sustain their injuries in practice. Pringle has now been sidelined for more than a week with a quad injury. As long as he is back with some preseason reps before the season starts, this will go a long way with the production he and Justin Fields could potentially create.

The 28-year-old was brought in after recording career highs in receiving with 568 yards and seven touchdowns. Pringle’s injury doesn’t happen to be worrisome, but he will be sidelined for some time.

Harry’s injury isn’t the same story. After suffering a high ankle sprain, it was initiated that he’d miss over a month’s time. That timetable changed quickly. Harry underwent tightrope surgery to repair that ligament in his ankle. It is now being said that an estimated time for return will be in about eight weeks, leaving his return for some time in November.

Former Seattle Seahawks receiver David Moore was also brought into Chicago as a veteran receiver who in his career has shown consistent production in an offense that had Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf. At Tuesday’s annual Family Fest practice at Solider Field, Moore fell awkwardly during 1-on-1 drills. Moore was carted off the field and according to Matt Eberflus reports he will miss time. Not only is this unfortunate for the production of the offense and their ability to make an impact, but this affects the way Justin Fields gains confidence with such vital pieces of the offense.

Injuries are a part of the game and because of the situation the Bears are in, it is now time for Poles to start to evaluate the talent still available in free agency.
