2. Jayson Stanley

Jayson Stanley is another unfortunate situation for the Chicago Bears. He was injured in his preseason debut, after making a play on special teams. Stanley got onto the field early enough at cornerback that you had to think that the Bears were watching him for the practice squad.

However, the injury looked more serious than Michael Joseph. While the new regime is probably fine to let Joseph go, they may want to see how serious the injury to Stanley is.

Still, at the same time, if he misses this week, there is really no point to keep him. One thing the Chicago Bears could do with Stanley is release him with an injury designation.

He would have to clear waivers because he is a rookie UDFA, but the Bears could revert him back to the IR, and he could spend the season on the list. This allows them to bring him back next season, and not spend a roster spot on him when they go down to 85. The only thing would be that he would not be able to practice or do anything, essentially making his rookie season one where the team works on his body and other habits.

Still, if Stanley sees the chance to rehab with a team,  but misses an entire season, or gets cut and has to find his way, he probably will choose the former.
