5 Chicago Bears who have gone missing this offseason
Chicago Bears who have disappeared this offseason: Mario Edwards, DE
Here is a player who does not have to worry about being cut. However, Mario Edwards has not been making any noise this offseason. He’s been dealing with a few things from an injury standpoint that has kept him out of practice at times, but outside of a few good reps in one-on-one drills, he just hasn’t made a splash.
I was also surprised that Mario Edwards was moved to the outside. He obviously has more experience in the past as a true defensive edge rusher on the end, but I thought he’d be a solid option as a potential 3-technique in this system either behind or pushing Justin Jones.
Edwards came on strong for the Chicago Bears in 2020 with four sacks and six tackles for loss on limited snaps. A PED suspension limited his play in 2021 and he wasn’t the same player with only two sacks and one tackle for loss. He’s a carryover from the previous regime, but I think he sticks around as possibly the last defensive end to make the final roster.
